Audit log
The audit log records every change made to CRM records so you can answer compliance, troubleshooting, and "who changed this" questions with certainty.
The audit log is the running history of every change made in your CRM. Every create, update, delete, stage change, and owner change shows up here with the user who did it, the record affected, and the before/after values.
If you've ever asked "who moved this deal back to Qualified?" or "why is this field suddenly empty?", the audit log is where you find the answer.
Open the audit log
Go to CRM → Audit log. The newest entries appear first.
Filter the log
The log can get long quickly. Use the filters to narrow it down.
| Filter | What it does |
|---|---|
| User | Show only changes made by a specific teammate. |
| Record type | Limit to accounts, deals, tasks, or contacts. |
| Action | Pick create, update, delete, stage change, or owner change. |
| Date range | Restrict to a specific window. |
Combine filters to drill in — for example, "every stage change made by Alex in the last 7 days."
What each entry shows
Every entry includes:
- When the change happened, down to the second
- Who made the change (the user's name, or the workflow that ran it)
- What record was affected, with a link to open it
- What changed: the old value and the new value for each modified field
For deletes, the entry preserves the record's identifying fields so you can tell exactly what was removed.
What to use it for
Compliance
Auditors and security reviews almost always ask for change history on customer data. The audit log is your answer — export the filtered log if you need to hand over a record of activity.
Troubleshooting
When a record looks wrong, the audit log tells you exactly what happened to it and when, so you can fix the cause instead of just the symptom.
Catching unwanted automation
A misconfigured workflow can ripple through your data fast. Filtering the audit log for the workflow's user shows you everything it touched.
Retention
Audit logs are retained for the duration of your plan's retention period. Check your plan at Billing → Plans for the exact window. If you need a longer retention period for a specific compliance need, contact Informly support.
